One of my favourite ways to socialise is to have dinner parties. They don’t have to be fancy but they always have great food, great company, fun and games, and boozy beverages. Admittedly, most of the dinner parties I seem to have or attend are usually costume parties. To dress up in Eighties gear or in a Dirndl absolutely requires some merry drinks!

This time of year Mulled Wine is coming back on the menu and I recently looked back at a recipe for Mulled White Wine that I shared a few years ago. It also got me to thinking about the Hot Apple Toddies I made for a recent gathering and so I decided to try combining the recipes. I’m so glad I did because the recipe below is one that I’ll definitely be making on a regular basis in the coming months. It’s sweet, spiced, warming, and filled with seasonal goodness. Plus it’s very easy to make!

Mulled Apple Wine with Cinnamon & Ginger
Makes 8 Servings

1 bottle White Wine, ideally sweet and crisp
1 Litre (4.25 cups) Apple Juice
2″ Ginger, sliced
1 Cinnamon stick
4 shots of Whiskey
8 tsp Honey

1. Pour the wine and apple juice into a sauce pan and add the ginger and cinnamon. Cover and heat on low for thirty minutes. You want the spices to infuse into the liquid don’t want it to boil or even simmer. High temperatures and simmering will reduce the alcohol content.

2. Remove the spices and pour the spiced wine into eight mugs. Into each mug also add 1/2 shot of whiskey and a teaspoon of honey. Garnish with a stick of cinnamon if you’d like and serve immediately. Enjoy ~
